Background of the Study
Leadership plays a pivotal role in shaping organizational culture, employee morale, and overall job satisfaction. In the context of BUA Group, one of Nigeria's largest conglomerates with diverse business interests, the leadership style adopted by management directly influences employee behavior, motivation, and job satisfaction. Yobe State, where BUA Group operates, presents unique socio-economic challenges, and the effectiveness of leadership styles may vary based on regional factors and organizational needs.
Different leadership styles, such as transformational, transactional, autocratic, and democratic, can significantly affect employee attitudes and job satisfaction. Transformational leadership, which focuses on inspiring and motivating employees, has been linked to higher job satisfaction and organizational commitment. On the other hand, transactional leadership, which emphasizes rewards and penalties, can sometimes lead to compliance without fostering deeper engagement or satisfaction.
This study aims to examine the effect of leadership styles on employee job satisfaction in BUA Group’s operations in Yobe State, focusing on how different leadership approaches contribute to employee motivation, retention, and overall job satisfaction.
